Keith Buckner, Army Sergeant Major, (Ret.)

SGM Keith Buckner brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as Range Master for the ESI shooting programs. He served our country for over 31 years and retired as an Army Sergeant Major, the highest enlisted rank, just above First Sergeant and Master Sergeant. He was selected to the US Army FORSCOM Arms Marksmanship Team while assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. He served as Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE) Instructor, Drill Sergeant, Drill Sergeant School Instructor, and graduated from the vaunted US Army Sergeant Major Academy. Shortly after retiring from the Army, Keith attended the ESI Executive Protection, Designated Defensive Marksman, and Protective Security Detail programs. He currently serves as ESI’s Range Master and firearms instructor for the EP, DDM, and PSD programs.

SGM Buckner is not one to ‘rest on his laurels’ and has attended a multitude of shooter and instructor development programs including the Sig Sauer Semi-Automatic Pistol Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, Active Shooter Response Instructor, Master Firearms Instructor, and the NRA LE Handgun/Shotgun, Precision Rifle, and Tactical Shooting Instructor Programs. Students train under someone with a lifetime of professional and military experience with the majority in training and operations. Those who are considering enrolling in ESI’s shooting courses just because they “look like fun” are strongly advised to reconsider. Our Range Master accepts no fools and turns out professional, competent marksman. Arrive with respect for the position, leave with respect for the man.
